Mother’s Day has come once again. For some, it’s a day filled with the precious gifts of dandelions and a handmade cards scribbled with “I luv you”. For others, it’s a day that stirs up a fresh sense of grief over infertility, the loss of a child, or the loss of a mother.
For me, this day carries more than I can express in words and is often mixed with a sense of gratitude and grief.
Oh how different life is from the naive picture that I had formed in my head before the realities of motherhood began. Don’t get me wrong – I am so thankful to be a mother. It is a gift and a privilege that I do not deserve and many long to have. However, it is also a journey that has been far from what I imagined.
