Sarah Walton

Thanks for reading! My name is Sarah Walton and I'm a stay-at-home mom to 4 little humans. Life has been filled with blessings and sorrows as we've walked through special needs, Lyme Disease and chronic illness as a family, financial loss, job loss, and the slow loss of my ability to walk due to a degenerative ankle. Much of our life is spent navigating the struggles of illness, going to doctors, and learning to find joy in things of lasting value and things we never appreciated as much as we do now. But above all, God has been faithful through it all - meeting us in the valley, teaching us to walk closely with him, and watching him redeem what often seems unredeemable. Life often hurts - but because of Christ, it is full of hope. In my few spare moments, I enjoy writing and speaking about real life, the trials we continue to face, and how the hope of Christ and God's Word speaks into every aspect of it. I have co-authored Hope When It Hurts (alongside Kristen Wetherell) and have most recently co-authored Together Through the Storms - biblical encouragements for your marriage when life hurts, with my hubby, Jeff. You can also find me writing at places like Desiring God, Revive Our Hearts, Unlocking the Bible, Risen Motherhood, and other resources. Thanks for reading! May my words always serve to point you to the hope of Christ and the good news of the Gospel.

“Which of these has meant the most to you?” my husband asked. For the past week, he’d been putting little notes on my mirror to try to encourage me.
Just popping on to say that as the years go by, you learn to appreciate things like this on your birthday more than big excursions, a perfect day, or big expensive gifts.
Taking a bit of a break. Not sure for how long. Maybe a week, maybe a month, maybe more. This app doesn’t serve the same purpose it used to now that it limits so much, so I’ve found it to be a waste of time and brain space more and more. But more than anything, there’s a lot that needs my full attention and I’m finding it too easy to distract myself with lesser things because it’s easier than facing the hard stuff head on. So, this is step one to refocus.
2022 was a year filled with a lot of firsts. It had plenty of ups and downs, but I’m thankful for all the wonderful memories made. Although there were many others, these are ten “firsts” that stand out this year.
“Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial when it comes upon you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. But rejoice insofar as you share Christ’s sufferings, that you may also rejoice and be glad when his glory is revealed.” 1 Pt. 4:12-13
